Calling all Civil Engineers @floodandcoast

The second edition of Flood and Coast conference and exhibition is seeking involvement from all civil engineers and engineers involved in flood and coastal defence in what promises to be the largest gathering of thought leadership in the UK.

Led again by the Environment Agency, the event will draw together key stakeholders from the flood and coastal erosion risk management (FCRM) community, including local authorities, civil engineers, infrastructure owners, consultancies, contractors, businesses, community groups and universities.

The event, taking place at the Telford International Centre, 28-30 March 2017 will host 1500 fellow professionals to exchange a broad range of perspectives on innovation and best practices in FCRM.

Alison Baptiste, 2016 Chair of the Advisory Committee and Director of Strategy and Investment at The Environment Agency said:

“Last winter we have seen record rainfall and river levels bringing widespread flooding and misery to thousands of people’s lives. When we have exceptional weather like this, which impacts so severely on our country, it’s important to review what happened and learn how we can prepare better for the future. This Conference and Exhibition provides a great opportunity for industry professionals to come together and be inspired, to listen, learn and plan for the future. Our exciting multi-session conference attracts key stakeholders in our industry, including the Environment Agency, local authorities, international drainage boards, infrastructure owners, water companies, consultancies, contractors, incident responders, community groups and universities”

Elaine Hulse, Event Director said “Our first Flood & Coast event in 2016 featured 170 speakers, over 100 exhibition stands and attracted 1500 people over the three days. Flood & Coast 2017 will build on this success giving all those involved in managing flooding and coastal erosion the chance to swap ideas, meet and discuss issues with key personnel from stakeholders such as The Environment Agency, conference attendees, speakers and exhibitors.”

“We will also be showcasing the latest thinking from academics leading research at our top universities, as well as from the practitioners and specialists who deliver FCRM excellence on the ground. If you have a story to tell about your research or how you’ve applied new technologies or approaches to FCRM problems we want to see you at the event!”
