YOU’RE HIRED! – SHOW OFFERS THOUSANDS OF NEW APPRENTICESHIPS

EventCity Show Gives Young People ‘Choices’

More than 4400 apprenticeship opportunities for young people in the North West will be on offer at a mammoth exhibition set to take place at EventCity Manchester from 29th to 30th March 2017.

The show, Choices, backed by The National Apprenticeship Service, is one of the UK’s largest free to attend Skills exhibitions and aims to inspire young learners at a key stage in their career development.

The show comes as the UK is set to undertake bold and ambitious change, which is why it will be key in helping to make skilled trades seem an attractive prospect, to the next generation of apprentices, in a post-Brexit Britain.

Ben Blackledge, Director of Education and Skills Competitions at WorldSkills UK, said that the show would be an inspirational beacon for those seeking to secure rewarding careers in the region.

“Choices will change thousands of lives for the better.  We know the importance of peer-to-peer guidance and the impact of meeting genuine employers, so having young people and employers demonstrating skills and talking about apprenticeships is an incredibly potent package.”

The Choices show is calling upon students and colleges in a 40-mile radius, within the Manchester area, to sign up and see what the future could hold for them.

Students from the Greater Manchester colleges group will be pitting their skills against their peers in a variety of ‘Skills Competitions’, which will identify the region’s most talented young individuals in their chosen discipline.

The competitions will take centre stage at the Choices show and will aim to inspire and engage students visiting the event and motivate them to explore where Skills Competitions could take them.

Businesses large and small are set to take a slice of the action and seek out a new generation of skilled workers. Exhibitions will be set up to promote their wares and the prospect of kick-starting a career in a skilled trade.

In addition, young people can visit the event on their own or with friends/family for a dedicated open evening on Wednesday 29th between 5pm & 7pm. This open evening gives exhibitors the opportunity to discuss career goals with both the young person and their parents together, which has shown to be a great benefit for all parties.

The entire event is geared to help people make informed choices, which allows these young hopefuls to find a career path that suits them. Young learners are now becoming more aware of the opportunities available to them via apprenticeships and the Choices show aims to breathe fresh new life into the UK jobs market.

The Choices show is free to attend and it will take place at Manchester’s EventCity from Wednesday 29th to Thursday 30th March. Schools and Businesses can sign up to visit or exhibit at the show from the event’s website at www.choicesshow.org.
