AVAILABLE THROUGH 2D CNC MACHINERY – OKK’S HM1600 CLAIMS LARGEST IN CLASS FOR WORKPIECE CAPACITY

OKK’s HM1600 horizontal machining centre lays claim to having the largest workpiece capacity in its class while combining power with speed, three spindle options and a precision machining capability.  The 50 tonne machine has high orders of rigidity and incorporates a hybrid 4th axis table.

Now within the portfolio of high performance machines available from 2D CNC Machinery of Hinckley, the OKK HM1600 has 1,600 mm by 1,250 mm pallet size with a maximum workpiece envelope of 2,500 mm diameter by 1,850 mm high. Rapid traverse rates across the volume is 42 m/sec and twin ballscrews drive both X and Y axes to maximise positioning accuracy and operational smoothness to counter possible vibration.

There are three 50 taper spindle drive options of 18.5 kW with 1,402 Nm of torque through a three-speed gearshift that delivers 20 to 4,000 revs/min. It also has a locking extendable quill (W-axis) with a stroke of 296 mm enabling the centre line of the table to be reached. A three-speed gear drive is also applied to a 22 KW, 1,250 Nm of torque, 20 to 8,000 revs/min spindle option for hard metal cutting and a further 40 kW drive with 600 Nm of torque and a two-speed electrical shift delivering 35 to 12,000 revs/min is available for higher speed machining sequences.

The built-in 4th axis table has OKK’s 6 cylinder precision clamping system able to retain the pallet onto six taper cones under 284 Nm of power.  This makes the machine ideal for rigidly locating pallets containing the likes of larger turbine blades, valves, engine and pipeline workpieces.  The pallet has maximum capacity options up to 10 tonnes and takes just 6.5 seconds to index within an accuracy of 0.0001 min. A hybrid quick system aids the maximum table loading through a large diameter taper roller bearing on the B-axis.

A 60 tool magazine is standard with 3.8 secs tool-to-tool time for tools up to 115 mm diameter. This tool capacity can be increased to 300 mm with adjacent pots left empty. Further options include magazines with 116, 176 and 236 positions. Control is by Fanuc 31-iA5.
