WEAF SEEKS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO LEAD LARGEST AEROSPACE CLUSTER IN EUROPE

The West of England Aerospace Forum (WEAF) today (05/04/18) announced that it has started the search for a new Chief Executive to steer the organisation and build on recent successes, amidst the huge growth of the aerospace industry. The South West aerospace cluster is the largest in Europe, contributing over £6bn in sales and 20,000 jobs.

The board of WEAF is seeking a person who is dynamic, knowledgeable about the global, national and regional aerospace agenda, commercially astute with proven business development, proven project management & maintaining relations across industry stakeholders.

WEAF has increased its membership by 50% in the past 4 years, and its influence in the industry and south west region has never been higher. These are just two of the significant achievements of the current CEO, Simon Young, who is leaving the organisation for family reasons.

Other achievements include: an unrivalled programme of events, such as the Aerospace Ambassador Awards; the development & implementation of projects such as NATEP & the AeroSpace Cornwall.

Chris Wilson, Chair of WEAF, said: “Under Simon’s leadership, WEAF has gone from strength to strength and he leaves an organisation which is in rude health. We are disappointed to see him leaving, though we fully understand his reasons.

“Now is the time to look to the future, and we welcome applications from anyone with the necessary skills and experience who can drive WEAF onto the next level, and continue to position the South West as the pre-eminent place in the UK for the fast-growing aerospace industry.”
