A newly accredited motor repair company enhances ABB’s UK coverage while providing OEMs, machine builders and end-users with greater access to products and expertise.
Fletcher Moorland Ltd is the latest addition to the ABB Value Provider network as a technical distributor for motors and generators. The company’s formidable expertise in motor repairs and services is bolstered by ABB accreditation. This allows Fletcher Moorland to provide more services for customers while providing opportunities to introduce customers to the benefits of ABB motors.
Based in Stoke-on-Trent, Fletcher Moorland is an independent, family-owned business specialising in electric motor repairs and rewinds. Founded by Sam Fletcher over 70 years ago, it is today operated by his grandson Matt. The company specialises in electro-mechanical repair, servo and spindle repair, automation repair and specialist manufacturing.
Matt Fletcher, Managing Director, describes the company’s well-equipped repair facilities as being “like an A&E department for industry”. “Our door is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so customers can get their motors repaired at any time. We carry out both planned field maintenance and breakdown maintenance. We have recently invested in several CNC machines for fabricating parts on-site, which helps to get our customers back up and running in even less time.”
Richard Gee, UK Channel Manager, motors & generators, ABB, explains the background to the new partnership: “We were looking for a partner in the region to extend our nationwide coverage. Fletcher Moorland’s excellent reputation meant they had already been on our radar for some time. They ticked all our boxes, and very much fit in with the ethos of ABB’s Value Provider network. We’re now able to equip them with market-leading products and help them to deliver first-class repair and replacement motor services for their customers.”
As an ABB Value Provider, Fletcher Moorland can now provide stockholding and service for IEC DC motors, IEC LV AC motors, motors and generators for explosive atmospheres, and synchronous reluctance motors (SynRM).
Fletcher says of the new partnership “This is great news. We have always valued and respected ABB as a brand and are proud to be associated with such a reputable company. Having direct access to their motor products, services and best practices will allow us to serve the needs of our customers better. Whilst we have considerable expertise in motor repair, becoming a Value Provider now opens the door to selling newer motors like the SynRM, which can help customers to reduce energy use and save money.”
The ABB Value Provider network offers UK customers access to ABB motors, variable speed drives and mechanical power transmission products together with a wide range of services, technical advice, training and bespoke contracts. Although each ABB Value Provider is an established and successful engineering company, all members of the network must undertake regular training to ensure its product, industry and technical knowledge is of the standard required to deliver accredited sales, support and service in close cooperation with ABB.
