CBE+ HOSTS INDUSTRY BEST PRACTICE EVENT

Worldwide supplier to the oil & gas and aerospace markets, CBE+, recently hosted a Best Practice event on behalf of Made in Yorkshire at its facility in Chesterfield, which attracted over 30 delegates.

The event focused on the company’s accreditation Best Practices, as well as how it maintains its quality standards.Starting with refreshments and networking, the event included presentations by CBE+ CEO Marie Cooper and Business Development Manager Fabio Cosenza.

Marie Cooper, CEO at CBE+, said: “It has been an interesting journey for our company over the last two years, our aim was to add value to our four individual businesses by collaborating more closely together, which we have achieved and in doing so have become a more integral part of our customers’ supply chains.”

At the event, CBE+ demonstrated its core values: Safety, Quality and Delivery, along with a clear focus on continuous growth. Marie described how they have achieved this through strategic training and development of staff, as well as investing in the latest technology.

She adds: “We have gained a lot from speaking to different businesses and learning about their processes and procedures. This learning has really paid off and, combined with the accreditations and commitment to quality, we have started to see real growth potential.”

The presentation focused on the company’s sector-specific accreditations, and why CBE+ decided to apply for them. The three accreditations discussed were Fit for Nuclear – supplying to the Nuclear industry, AS9100 – the aerospace accreditation which has been achieved in its machining and electroless nickel plating divisions; and Nad Cap – the next accreditation that CBE+ hopes to attain.

Fabio Cosenza explains: “We have found that by having these accreditations, we are able to work with much larger companies, including OEMs.”

CBE+ offers precision engineering with in-house assembly lines and pressure testing facilities. The company’s other specialist services include electroless nickel plating, gear cutting and machining, artificial lifting manufacture and laboratory services.

Following the presentations, delegates were given a tour of CBE+’s new facility in Chesterfield, which included all the company’s different manufacturing capabilities from precision engineering to laboratories that test the chemistry for nickel plating, as well as services from CNC milling to pressure testing.

Many of the Made in Yorkshire members were impressed by the company’s sulphur dioxide test machine, one of very few in Europe. This simulates conditions of parts exposed to the elements and changes in temperature, for example, when products are used in marine applications. The machine cuts lead times and costs for the company, as well as attracting business from other markets that require this service.

On the tour, Fabio pointed out that the company supplies large industrial gears, used in UK public transport, he explains: “If you have taken a tube train in London recently, the gears that operate in them would have been made by CBE+ – not many people know that!”

CBE Ltd was formerly known as Cooper Brown Enterprises and is the parent company of CBE+ Precision, CBE+ Gears, CBE+ Beam Pumps, Nitec Ltd in Partnership with CBE+ and Spire Laboratories in Partnership with CBE+.
