Free software offered to support UK’s manufacturing sector

Sheffield-based Elements Technology, the award-winning software company, is helping the UK’s manufacturing sector recover from the pandemic by offering its Elements Docket for free.

Elements Docket is a simple software solution that helps manufacturers to be more productive by providing teams across the company with a live view of production. It combines order tracking (using an android app and contactless technology), production management, and quality control capture into one simple-to-use software package. It can be used either as a stand-alone solution or as an integrated enhancement to your existing ERP. With no technology to install or integrate, it can be fully implemented across a factory in less than a day.

“We all know that 2020 has been an extremely challenging year for industry”, said Dr. Joe Handsaker, CEO and Founder Elements Technology. “Many manufacturers are coping with reduced demand while continually having to adjust to alien working environments, making it particularly hard to remain productive and profitable. Many firms that had planned to invest in R&D projects have seen budgets reduced and innovation programmes postponed or even cancelled., ironically making it even more difficult to thrive in a post-pandemic world.”

Elements Technology has been very charitable since the start of the pandemic. The firm teamed up with Starling Solutions to offer their services on a pro bono basis to manufacturers involved in the response, including those making PPE, vaccinations and test kits.

It’s the right time to support the wider manufacturing industry, explains Joe Hardsaker, “from August, all manufacturers in the UK will be able to use our multi-award winning software, Elements Docket, without charge, for the remainder of the year. By doing ss, we believe we can help the vital sector adapt to the new and changing working conditions, recover quickly and ultimately expand.”

Elements Docket allowed Carpenter Additive to employ more flexible workforce arrangements without affecting production.

“Elements Docket enabled us to keep working with minimal disruption throughout lockdown. Using Docket, our production has been planned off site, performed at our factory in Widnes, and has been instantly visible to sales and customer service teams working from home, who have then been able to provide up-to-date order information to our customers in the UK and beyond” (Nick Weeks, General Manager of Carpenter Additive Widnes)

At the start of the pandemic, Elements Technology teamed up with Starling Solutions to offer our solutions for free to manufacturers involved in the response, including those making PPE, vaccinations and test kits; and now they are turning their attention towards supporting the entire manufacturing industry as it looks to recover.

They are offering manufacturers free use of Elements Docket, a software solution that helps manufacturers to be more productive and adaptable by providing teams across their company with a live view of production. It combines order tracking (using an android app and contactless technology), production management, and quality control capture into one simple-to-use software package.

Quotes from Dr. Joe Handsaker, CEO and Founder Elements Technology

“This year has been extremely challenging for industry. Many manufacturers are coping with reduced demand while continually having to adjust to alien working environments, making it particularly hard to remain productive and profitable. Many firms that had planned to invest in R&D projects have seen budgets reduced and innovation programmes postponed or even cancelled, ironically making it even more difficult to thrive in a post-pandemic world.”

“The manufacturing industry has been instrumental in supporting the United Kingdom over the past few months, by quickly adapting to create new supply chains and initiatives including the Ventilator Challenge. So from August, all manufacturers in the UK will be able to use our multi-award winning software, Elements Docket, without charge, for the remainder of the year. By doing this, we hope to help the vital sector to adapt to the new and changing working conditions, recover quickly and ultimately thrive in the future.”

“We were buzzing to get Sean Williamson to announce our news, as we thought that would bring a smile to people’s faces, on top of our news; and it seems to have done just that!”

Quote from Nick Weeks, General Manager of Carpenter Additive Widnes (Customer)

Elements Docket allowed Carpenter Additive to be flexible and adaptable during lockdown.

“Elements Docket enabled us to keep working with minimal disruption throughout lockdown. Using Docket, our production has been planned off-site, performed at our factory in Widnes, and has been instantly visible to sales and customer service teams working from home, who have then been able to provide up-to-date order information to our customers in the UK and beyond.”

Quote from Prof. Rab Scott; Head of Digital @ Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Industry)

“Many manufacturers think that digital technologies are difficult to deploy and expensive to run. Element Docket software, free to use for the rest of 2020, will prove this is not the case and should persuade even the most sceptical manager that the visibility it brings to shop floor activity saves time and money and improves quality.”

Quote from Dr. Nick Wright, Head of Manufacturing Industries @ Digital Catapult (Industry)

In such a challenging environment, innovation with digital technologies is low on the priority list for manufacturers in the UK. However, we have also seen how it’s possible to continue working and even grow a business by embracing digital. Having worked with Elements Technology for the last 2 years, we can see how this offer will help manufacturing industries realise benefits quickly, that will accelerate their recovery and make them more resilient in the longer term. Once these businesses develop an appreciation for how data can benefit their business, they can gain further value from more advanced digital technologies to become globally competitive.
