HDR Canada Creates New Business Unit: Building Engineering Services

HDR Canada has expanded its service delivery within mechanical, electrical structural and civil engineering to form a dedicated Building Engineering Services business group, providing solutions for the built environment. The new practice is part of a growth strategy to target new market sectors, while continuing to support our important current clientele.

This move follows the acquisition of Hurley Palmer Flatt Group, the United Kingdom’s leading independent engineering consultancy in July 2019, a critical step in expanding multidisciplinary building engineering services globally.

The new Building Engineering Services group in Canada brings together experts with diverse and broad experience in major projects, from transit facilities and industrial installations to commercial and institutional buildings. The services being offered moving forward include mechanical, plumbing electrical, structural and civil engineering.

One important area for growth is in mission critical facilities such as complex data centres, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainable, green building design.

Key team leaders within the group are:

Neil MacDonald – Business Group Manager

Neil has worked both as an engineering consultant and as section manager for large metropolitan municipalities. Neil is a Professional Engineer licensed in Ontario, with a track record of success delivering a wide range of design and construction projects.
