DK Holdings is proud to have longstanding relationships with customers in the Wind Turbine industry worldwide. This was particularly evident at JEC WORLD in Paris earlier this year where we showcased our latest range of Diamond Tooling solutions for the Composite industry. The team had several conversations with industry professionals within the Renewable Energy sector, in particular those who are developing new composite materials, made from natural and man-made fibers. It was interesting to hear about the challenges companies are facing where there is not just a need to streamline manufacturing processes, but an additional requirement to cause minimal impact on the environment.
What makes us unique and trusted partners to our global customer base is that our R&D department very much works in partnership with them from inception to the supply. It usually starts with a chat and testing of sample materials, leading to either in-house or live production testing during which the team continually liaises with the end user, ensuring the Diamond Tooling solution delivered matches the exact needs of the customer.
One recent example came from one of our partners in the Wind Turbine industry who was looking for a tooling solution to remove large volumes of composite material from wind turbine blades during the repair process. We worked with their team and developed a bespoke diamond electroplated grinding disc that reduced production costs by at least 50% and minimised the environmental impact due to less wastage which was a great result for everyone.
