~ WEG demonstrates motor, gearbox, drive and asset management technology at Aqua Nederland ~
Global industrial equipment manufacturer, WEG will exhibit from stand G116 at Aqua Nederland 2024 — the Netherland’s leading event for the water sector. Taking place from March 19 to 21, 2024 at Evenementenhal Gorinchem, Netherlands, WEG will showcase its new W23 Sync+ motor line, the WG50 gearbox and its comprehensive WEGmotion Drives package — which includes Motion Fleet Management (MFM) for continuous monitoring of assets.
As the premier event in the Netherlands dedicated to water and wastewater, Aqua Nederland serves as a vital platform to bridge the gap between supply and demand in water technology, management services and products. By bringing together industry leaders, innovators and experts, the show plays a pivotal role in driving forward the nation’s water agenda and fostering sustainable solutions for the future.
At WEG’s stand, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the company’s innovative offerings for water management. This includes the W23 Sync+ motor line, a hybrid motor that combines permanent magnet (PM), ferrite or neodymium magnets and synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motor technologies. The design offers a higher level of efficiency for the entire speed range compared with conventional induction motors and a higher power factor than synchronous reluctance motors. This results in a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for plant managers.
WEG will also exhibit its WG50 gearbox range. The WG50 gearbox line is versatile, reliable and has a modular design, making it well suited to a wide range of applications — including those in the water industry. The design integrates cylindrical gears featuring helical teeth, guaranteeing smooth and efficient functionality while delivering peak performance and reliability. These gearboxes offer the flexibility of parallel or orthogonal shaft options and are accessible in ratios spanning from 6.30 to 450, with capacities ranging from 22,000 to 178,000 Newton metres (Nm).
Finally, WEG will highlight the benefits of opting for a WEGmotion Drives package — a solution seamlessly combining multiple WEG products in one integrated package. By using an integrated solution, water industry plant managers can maximise the performance of their machines.
“The focus of Aqua Nederland this year revolves around the seamless integration of the Netherlands’ water cycle, which is steadily becoming more unified,” explained Martijn Brinks, commercial branch manager at WEG Netherlands. “This unity is driving increased collaboration among stakeholders to tackle the pressing challenges of circularity, energy transition, climate adaptation and ensuring the safety of water resources.
“However, unity extends beyond stakeholder collaboration to the synergy and optimisation of individual industrial systems. By opting for a motor, inverter, gearbox and digital solutions in one integrated package, we’re able to deliver the perfect balance of efficiency, reliability and performance in water applications. Engineered with precision and built to the highest industry standards, our all-in-one WEGmotion Drives packages simplify installation, reduce maintenance and optimise operations.”
WEGmotion Drives packages are underpinned by MFM — WEG’s control and monitoring tool for the operation and maintenance of industrial assets. Deployable across fleets of motors, drives, gearboxes and other installed equipment, MFM promises to reduce unscheduled downtime, optimise maintenance, and improve efficiency in large industrial operations. Aqua Nederland attendees will be able to see the MFM demo unit in action at WEG’s stand during the show.
