FANUC to highlight partnership approach to robot adoption at Smart Factory Expo

Industrial automation specialist FANUC UK will highlight the importance of collaboration when adopting robotics by exhibiting in conjunction with FIVE of its partners at Smart Factory Expo 2024 (Stand 4-B80, 5-6 June, NEC Birmingham). Serving as a valuable link between robot suppliers and automation end-users, the five partners accompanying FANUC to Smart Factory Expo each excel in a different niche area and will be on hand to provide industry-specific advice, alongside showcasing their standard and bespoke automation solutions, to help manufacturers improve their efficiency and boost their productivity.

Perfect partnerships

Co-locating on the FANUC stand will be:

Cyan Tec Systems – Producers of advanced automated laser processing solutions for the aerospace, automotive, nuclear, battery and medical devices sectors.

Cyber-Weld – Their innovative cobot welding solution, Cyber-Mate, incorporates FANUC’s CRX collaborative robot with a non-contact, laser-guided, smart camera. It uses adaptive technology to automatically adjust the welding head to improve weld quality and reduce production costs for automated welding applications.

Hi Tech Automation – Supplying standard and bespoke automated injection moulding systems for the plastics sector, most commonly specifying the FANUC ROBOSHOT all-electric injection moulding machine.

Loop Technology – Designers of innovative automation systems for high-value manufacturers in the areas of aerospace, automotive and defence, including their proprietary FibreLINE high rate deposition cell.

Cobots and Machinery Safety – Helping manufacturers navigate the complex area of robot safety and part of the BSI panel currently developing the new safety regulations for robots, Cobots and Machinery Safety work closely with FANUC to ensure all robot and cobot projects are completed with safety at the very forefront of the installation.

Live WorldSkills UK qualifiers

In addition to collaboration, inspiring the next generation of automation engineers remains a key focus for FANUC UK. As well as an educational cobot cell, Stand 4-B80 will also play host to the qualifying round of the WorldSkills UK 2024 Industrial Robotics competition. With this year’s contest attracting a record number of entrants, the standard is expected to be extremely high, with the most successful teams of students aged 16+ making it through to the National Finals at FANUC’s Open House this November and a chance to represent Squad UK at the International Finals in Shanghai.

And if you feel you’ve got what it takes to beat the best of the UK’s young robotics talent, there will also be the chance to ‘have a go’ yourself and take on the WorldSkills UK challenge, just for fun. Are you brave enough?

Inspiring excellence in manufacturing

“Our place as a leading manufacturing nation can only be maintained by increasing our levels of industrial automation,” says FANUC UK’s Head of Sales, Oliver Selby. “Smart Factory Expo is the perfect platform to showcase not only the best of what we offer here at FANUC, but also to highlight how our partners are uniquely positioned to help manufacturers improve their efficiency, boost their productivity, and overcome labour challenges. Ensuring we are creating a robust talent pipeline in the engineering and manufacturing sectors is also key to our future success. Initiatives like the WorldSkills UK competition, which we are proud to partner once again for the fourth consecutive year, are critical to inspiring more young people to follow a career path in this exciting industry.”
