Tria Technologies Announces Major New Partnership with Qt Group

Collaborative relationship to deliver the best possible HMI solutions

Nov. 13, 2024 –Tria™, an Avnet brand for embedded compute boards, has joined forces with Qt Group, a global software company based in Finland, on the development of new solutions to help OEMs build advanced human machine interface (HMI)/graphic user interface (GUI) designs.

Tria’s HMI services include design and prototyping through full system assembly and product integration. This will be combined with Qt’s expertise in software development, which empowers productivity across the entire product development lifecycle, from UI design and software development to quality assurance and deployment.

“This partnership is a significant milestone in delivering cutting-edge compute-on-module (COM) solutions,” says Thomas Staudinger, President of Tria Technologies. “Our new agreement with Qt Group enables us to empower our customers to reduce their time to market whilst providing tools needed to create sophisticated HMI solutions – from design and manufacturing to delivery. Whether it is in industrial automation, medical, or any other embedded application, this collaboration helps our customers to get their projects off the ground quickly.”

With the Qt development framework, engineers can build user interfaces for different platforms – from embedded and mobile to desktop. The partnership with Tria further provides a hardware pre-integrated solution for quick and easy integration into projects. Under the agreement, the Qt 6 commercial software stack now becomes part of the Tria’s SimpleSwitch technology platform, enabling customers to install the software seamlessly on Tria’s SMARC modules. The SimpleSwitch combination of SMARC® connector, containers and hardware abstraction layers, and with software templates for Python, Flutter, Qt and more, allows projects to start straight away and be tailored for performance and features.

Qt Partner Director, Paul Nieminen, added, “The bundled solution Tria is offering provides all the confidence an OEM customer needs that our partnership of components, software and expertise will significantly reduce complexities in the development and manufacturing process while maintaining the need for speed to market. We are delighted to collaborate with Tria’s innovative SimpleSwitch team to create this solution.”

Also part of the collaboration is the availability of Tria’s SimpleCore™ incubator program, an open-source collection of extra features that are stored in additional repositories and can be added to any SimpleSwitch build using Qt 6.

The Qt 6 building block for SimpleSwitch is initially available for three months. Following that testing period, the development license can be purchased. To find out more, go to Qt Pricing & Plans for Each Stage of Software Development.
