Ground engineering specialist strengthens UK leadership team with new Commercial and Infrastructure Director

New director joins Geobear with over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry

Geotechnical engineering firm Geobear has appointed Jon Chevin as its new Commercial and Infrastructure Director to oversee ground improvement projects across the UK. In this role, Chevin will form strong, long-term relationships with customers in transport, utilities, and public asset markets, strengthening Geobear’s reputation as a trusted partner for ground improvement solutions.

Chevin will focus on leading the commercial and infrastructure teams, supporting a diverse collection of projects across the UK, from transport to utilities. A key part of his role will include developing connections with clients and identifying opportunities to expand awareness of geopolymer ground improvement technologies and the associated cost benefits for councils.

With more than 25 years working across the construction industry, Chevin has held several senior positions at Balfour Beatty. He progressed to the position of Head of CFA Piling, he then became the Ground Improvement Operations Manager on major infrastructure projects such as HS2. Before joining Geobear, he served as a Pre-Construction Director at Franki Foundations UK, overseeing complex foundation engineering projects.

“I’m passionate about building relationships with customers in different sectors, so when I saw this opportunity, I knew it was a great fit for my experience,” said Chevin.

“Generating a reliable reputation and repeat business is developed by meeting clients, providing them with the assurance that you are a trusted advisor that can consult and solve their issues. One of my main goals is to grow the awareness of alternative ground engineering solutions across commercial and infrastructure sectors,” Chevin continued.

“Jon’s technical expertise in ground engineering and track record of relationship building skills is incredibly valuable for Geobear,” said Otso Lahtinen, CEO of Geobear. “As subsidence risks grow with the threat of climate change, Jon’s role will be crucial in supporting the implementation of faster solutions for essential assets,” Lahtinen continued.
