Next-gen handheld telemetry systems unleashed

Sensing and measurement specialist Mantracourt has released its next-generation handheld T24 wireless telemetry instrument, which has been engineered to be more user friendly than previous products thanks to streamlined setup options.

The T24 handheld follows the release of Mantracourt’s updated PSDS portable sensor display instrument last year and is shipped in an easy-to-use single function format. Additional T24 handheld modules can be installed onto the device via a USB connection with the instrument’s simplified setup wizard.

The device is designed to work with all Mantracourt T24 transmitters and operates in roaming mode, instantly displaying data from up to 12 nearby transmitters. It is especially suited to under-hook and multi-point weighing applications. The IP67 rating means it can withstand harsh environments while offering simple yet powerful functionality.

Key features include customisable units, allowing users to define up to 12 inputs with different settings such as calibrated units or overload. The T24 Handheld also provides multiple overload levels for multi-point lifts, tracking overload events with built-in warnings and error alerts. These alerts can be displayed audibly or via vibrating alarms.

“The handheld T24 comes in a rubberised, robust case with a good grip, making it suitable for use in challenging environments like those found in the oil and gas and power generation sectors,” explained Tom Lilly, product manager at Mantracourt. “To help users visualise readings, even in poorly lit or dusty environments, the new handheld T24 features a larger screen than previous modules and this also comes with backlighting.”

The T24 handheld is supported by the same T24 toolkit that users have grown accustomed to in recent years, with users able to access factory-level support remotely with the software.

“The T24 toolkit enables us to provide factory-level support remotely, meaning users get the help they need faster than if they had to ship modules to us to repair in person,” continued Lilly. “Many of the features needed to fix issues are locked to everyday users, such as configuration settings, and the toolkit allows our engineers to access these remotely. Furthermore, using the toolkit, our engineering team can save support codes as templates for future use and update them when needed.”

Mantracourt’s in-house agile manufacturing design and testing capabilities means customers can have confidence in its ability to maintain supply even if global market conditions experience similar levels of disruption as seen in recent years.

To protect against any possible obsolescence issues in future, Mantracourt’s in-house engineers have designed the instrument to be brand-neutral, meaning its production does not rely on the availability of any single component.
