Co-solvent cleaning enhances the solubility of contaminants and improves efficiency and performance.
What is co-solvent cleaning? Co-solvent cleaning is a powerful and versatile vapour degreasing process that uses a combination of two solvents to clean a variety of substrates. Particularly useful in electronics cleaning, this process is a safe and efficient way to remove organic and mineral residues from solder fluxes and pastes. The co-solvent cleaning process uses a mixture of the solvating agent (Topklean EL20A) and a rinsing agent (ProSolv®IPA) in the first cleaning stage, followed by just the rinsing agent in the second stage. Excellent for applications where solubility, material compatibility, sustainability and regulatory compliance are important. Perfect for cleaning circuit boards, semiconductors, avionics, and optical instruments. Co-solvents will help to dissolve contaminants that a single solvent alone may struggle to remove by modifying the overall polarity, viscosity, and evaporation rate of the cleaning solution. High quality and versatile co-solvents from EnviroTech Europe Topklean EL20A is designed to clean solder…

Satellite corrosion protection - How corrosion protection is being used in the space and satellite industry
Corrosion protection in the space and satellite industry is crucial to prevent degradation of materials in extreme environments. Spacecraft and satellites encounter extremely challenging conditions, such as intense radiation, atomic oxygen, and rapid thermal cycling, all of which accelerate corrosion and material degradation. Effective corrosion protection ensures structural integrity, longevity, and functionality of components, instrumentation and other space infrastructure. Space and satellite industry structures are designed to operate in highly aggressive and unforgiving environments, where even minor degradation can lead to mission failure or loss of functionality. Corrosion can weaken structural components, making them vulnerable to fractures, cracking, and complete structural failure over time. Satellites and spacecraft also carry vital electronic communication, navigation, imaging, and research equipment. Electronic Corrosion can lead to the failure of critical systems, such as antennas, sensors, solar panels, and propulsion units. Corrosion increases the chance of component fragmentation, leading to debris that contributes to the…

Next-generation PFAS-Free solvent cleaners from EnviroTech Europe - Innovation driven by legislation
Vapour degreasing, with or with-out ultrasonics, is the oldest, simplest and most effective solvent degreasing and metal cleaning process used today. It has until recently been subject to little change since it was first invented in the early part of the last century. In the UK, Europe, United States and other advanced economies, increasingly stringent legislation has been put in place to control emissions of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), Global Warming Compounds, Ozone Depleting Compounds and those compounds associated with human health concerns such as PFAS chemicals. This has led to new formulations being developed for solvent cleaners. The vapour cleaning process still gives the highest levels of economical cleaning with minimum energy usage, low footprint on the factory floor, safety for the operator, and high production rates, with low solvent usage and low environmental impact. With the new generation of sealed cleaning machines its future as the process of…
Electrical corrosion protection -Prevent hydrogen sulphide corrosion in electrical and electronic equipment
Corrosion in its many forms, costs both private and public sectors hundreds of billions a year to repair or replace electrical, electronics, or avionic components because of failures caused by corrosion. Lost productivity and revenue caused by plant and equipment corrosion is a serious matter. While all metals corrode, due to a number of different factors, there is no simple or single solution to the overall corrosion problem. However there are some very cost effective and proven ways to prevent corrosion and failures caused by corrosion and thereby reducing or eliminating associated costs and increasing safety which should be foremost in the mind set of any preventative maintenance programme. Electrical and electronic equipment and components that are used in adverse environments, e.g. the oil and gas industry, waste-water treatment plants and the pulp and paper industry, where corrosive gases such as hydrogen sulphide can be found, cause severe corrosion and…
The importance of corrosion protection for electric vehicles
Corrosion protection is as important for electronic vehicles (EVs) as it is in traditional petrol/gasoline powered vehicles. However, there are some unique factors to consider when it comes to avoiding corrosion problems in electric vehicles: Battery Enclosure and Connections: EVs have large, heavy battery packs that are typically enclosed in a protective housing. This enclosure and its connections can be particularly susceptible to corrosion, especially in regions with high humidity or exposure to road salt. Corrosion in the battery enclosure or on electrical connections can affect the performance and safety of the vehicle. Charging Infrastructure: Charging equipment, especially in public charging stations, can be exposed to the elements. The connectors, plugs, and wiring can corrode over time. This can lead to issues with charging reliability and safety concerns. Cooling Systems: Many EVs use liquid cooling systems to manage the temperature of the battery. The components in these systems, such as…

The importance of corrosion protection for air conditioning units
Corrosion problems in air conditioning units can be caused by various factors including exposure to harsh environmental conditions like humidity, salt, pollutants, chemicals, and other airborne particles, poor maintenance, manufacturing defects or inferior materials, equipment ageing and general wear. To prevent or minimize corrosion in air conditioning units, regular maintenance, proper installation, timely repairs of leaks, and protection against environmental elements are crucial. This includes routine cleaning, inspections, and addressing any issues promptly to extend the lifespan of the AC unit and ensure its optimal performance. Corrosion protection for air conditioning units can be vital in various situations, here are some important considerations: Harsh Environments: In areas near the coast or where the air is laden with salt, the risk of corrosion is higher due to saltwater exposure. Corrosion protection measures, such as coatings or materials designed to resist corrosion, can help extend the lifespan of the air conditioning unit.…
Why are vapour degreasing solvents so good at cleaning?
Vapour degreasing solvents are typically chosen for their excellent solvency properties. They have the ability to dissolve and disperse a wide range of contaminants, including dirt, oil, grease, wax, and other contaminants. The cleaning action of solvents is primarily attributed to their unique molecular properties and interactions with the materials they contact. Here’s why solvents are so good at cleaning: Low Surface Tension: Vapour degreasing solvents can reduce the surface tension of liquids, making them more effective at penetrating and breaking up dirt and stains. This allows the solvent to reach areas that might otherwise be hard to clean. Polarity: The polarity of a solvent plays a significant role in its cleaning ability. Polar solvents have molecules with positive and negative poles, which allows them to interact with polar substances like water-based stains. Nonpolar solvents, on the other hand, are effective at dissolving nonpolar substances like oils and grease.…
The advantages of using fluorinated solvents for your vapour degreasing process
Fluorinated solvents, also known as fluorocarbon solvents, offer several advantages in various industrial and scientific applications, including being highly suited for vapour degreasing. Here are some of the key advantages of using fluorinated solvents:
