Delivering greener innovation at this year’s showcase event for renewable energy

Going green has become the latest trend for businesses, with more signing up to the RE100 where they are committing and working towards 100% renewable power. But with a shifting political and economic landscape, and the future of renewable energy unclear, now is a crucial time for the industry to come together to drive forward the green energy agenda, says Nicola Meadows, event director – Environment, i2i Events Group.

Organised in partnership with key associations such as, the Major Energy Users Council, Energy Institute and Energy Services & Technology Association, the Renewables Event 2016 at the NEC, Birmingham, on 13 to 14 September is a ‘must attend’ exhibition and conference. Not only is this an event for utility managers, it is also a key date in the calendar for environmental consultants, sustainability managers and green energy innovators. It is a key place for visitors to understand what the industry can do to accelerate the scale-up of renewable power particularly in an environment where fossil fuel prices have decreased significantly and subsidies to renewables have been cut?

The Renewables Event provides key opportunities for networking and professional development. The dedicated conference theatre will bring together the early adopters who have implemented a green energy strategy into their business, sharing top tips on implementation, and how to create additional revenue.  Influencers within this space will be discussing and debating the role renewables will be playing in the long term energy mix and how the shift towards renewables can improve your bottom line. Key topics across the two-day agenda include mapping out the future following the EU referendum, how to capitalise on solar for long term energy procurement and re-inventing the business model of renewables with energy storage. There are also expected to be big debates on nuclear vs. renewables and identifying which source will decarbonise the grid and meet our future energy demands.

Looking to the future

The Renewables Event organisers are also on the lookout for tomorrow’s energy managers and have launched a national search to find the industry’s ‘Rising Stars’. The competition celebrates trailblazing initiatives that challenge the way resource management works and inspire a new generation of efficiency managers.
