Further expanding the range of Machine Automation Controllers, which are at the heart of the Sysmac automation platform (hereinafter “Sysmac”), Omron has launched the NX7 and NJ1, enabling solutions for a wide range of automation applications from simple machines to cutting-edge solutions for advanced production systems.
The new NX7 flagship model, offers speed without compromising reliability, and provides the industry’s fastest processing speed thanks to the Intel® Core™ i7 quad-core processor and large memory capacity. Focusing on the future of more sophisticated production environments, Omron developed this integrated controller to provide users with scalability beyond the framework of previous controllers and PLCs.
This scalability is complemented by the new NJ1 that enables the Sysmac solution to fit in existing production equipment. This entry level Machine Automation controller is fully compatible with the existing NJ3/NJ5 Machine Automation Controllers sharing a common concept, dimensions, general specifications, and functionality. The NJ1 is ideal for machines with a low number of motion axes, with two processors offering 2 physical axes, 4 virtual axes or none at all.
With architecture that can quickly incorporate the latest information communication technology (ICT), Sysmac offers a highly innovative manufacturing environment. It does this by creating a variety of application functionalities with software and by connecting with third party factory automation hardware and design tools such as 3D simulators.
Answering the global trend
Today’s manufacturing companies are under pressure to respond quickly to an increasing variety of new consumer needs. This pressure has prompted companies to innovate their manufacturing production sites by leveraging the principles of the Internet of Things, Big Data, and other ICT developments.
Anticipating the associated changes in the needs of manufacturing companies, Omron is committed to further develop Sysmac and other innovative factory automation devices to enhance service and engineering support for manufacturers.
Since the release of NJ5 in 2011, Omron has offered application engines that include database connectivity and robotics and has also expanded the range of peripheral devices such as high-speed I/O Units, Drives, Safety Components and Vision Sensors.
The release of these new Machine Automation Controllers enables Sysmac to be even more easily adopted at production sites. By leveraging the benefits of Sysmac, Omron creates innovative solutions by harnessing its Sensing and Control technology, its accumulated know-how, and its collaboration with third parties.
