The largest manufacturing and engineering exhibition in the UK MACH 2016 is set to open next Monday (11th April) at the NEC in Birmingham. This five day celebration of UK manufacturing will be officially opened by British Olympic cycling hero Sir Chris Hoy MBE. The opening ceremony will take place at 10:30am in Hall 5 of the NEC complex.
Sir Chris has a keen interest in manufacturing, producing his own range of bikes to which he has been integral to the development and prototyping. Part of the success of the Great Britain Cycling Teams on the track and road relates to specific knowledge and expertise in aerodynamics and structural engineering which brought new levels of innovation to the sport of cycling. It is no coincidence that engineering excellence and sporting success work hand in hand in this ultra-competitive sport. Britain’s athletes’ competitive edge has been honed through UK design, testing and manufacturing.
