Effective solutions to preserve our most precious resource will be on show

With de-regulation of the water market looming, there are so many challenges within the sector which require collaborative solutions. From changes to policy and legislation, to improving water management through smart metering and billing, innovative solutions to water efficiency measures have never been more imperative, says Nicola Meadows, event director – Environment, i2i Events Group.

Organised in partnership with key associations such as, the Major Energy Users Council, Energy Institute and Energy Services & Technology Association, the Water Event 2016 at the NEC, Birmingham, on 13th -14th September is a ‘must attend’ exhibition and conference. Not only is this an event for utilities managers, it is also a key date in the calendar for environment managers, facilities managers and decision makers as they grapple with waste water, its re-use and recycling through more efficient water management, and policy change.

The opportunity for the non-domestic market to switch water supplier in the UK is gearing up with the de-regulation of the non-household water market coming into effective in April 2017. Information needs such as guidance on how to capitalise on the technology and systems new competition will offer from monitoring and leak prevention, to better waste water management and recycling is needed in preparation for open competition. The Water Theatre will discuss in detail, insight into how to prepare for market opening and how to align improved management, monitoring, technology investment and billing of your water use with your wider utilities, from the perspectives of OFWAT, practitioners, key stakeholders and peers.

The event is a key place for visitors to understand how changes in the water market are going to affect their business.  By understanding the shifting landscape of supply-chain water management, visitors can unlock the true value of water and find the latest technologies to drive a holistic approach to water efficiency. Building on last year’s success, the Water Event provides key opportunities for networking and professional development.

Looking to the future

The Water Event organisers are also on the lookout for tomorrow’s energy managers and have launched a national search to find the industry’s ‘Rising Stars’.
