  • 10 new, fully funded apprenticeship roles created
  • Apprentices will be based either at London Gatwick or London Heathrow

Virgin Atlantic has launched an apprenticeship engineering scheme to help attract new talent into the industry, and is offering ten successful applicants the chance to join the UK’s leading airline.

Successful candidates will receive a fully funded Level 3 apprenticeship as well as an NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering and a Category A-license qualification.

Future engineers will begin their 25 month apprenticeship at the end of August 2017 and follow a comprehensive programme that will culminate in an Engineering Technician Apprenticeship certificate along with the opportunity to apply for a permanent role with the airline.

Beginning their apprenticeship with a kick off week at Virgin Atlantic’s head office in Crawley the apprentices will then spend ten months at a state of the art training facility in Gloucestershire. The final 15 months will be spent getting hands on experience at either London Gatwick or London Heathrow hangars.

Virgin Atlantic has encouraged applications from all walks of life and is looking for candidates who have good manual dexterity, a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work quickly and accurately. Other key attributes include being a team player, good written and spoken English and basic technical knowledge.

Phil Maher, Executive Vice President of Operations at Virgin Atlantic commented;
