The Institution of Mechanical Engineers will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of its Design Challenge at the University of Manchester’s School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering.
The Design Challenge gives first and second year undergraduates a taste of the ‘real world’ of engineering by challenging them to design, create, present and run a device to a strict technical specification.
Land speed record holder Richard Noble OBE, will be giving a special presentation discussing his high-speed career from the current Mach 1.4 Bloodhound SSC project, the latest in the long line of high risk ventures, and past glories including the Thrust2 programme which brought the World Land Speed Record back to Britain in 1983 and the Thrust SSC first ever supersonic land speed record programme.
Journalists are invited to attend
WHEN: From 09:30, Wednesday 7 February 2018
WHERE: Sackville Street Building will host the design challenge in the morning, followed by an afternoon presentation at the Reynold Building, C16.
