Hitaltech, the expert manufacturer of connecting technologies and enclosures, is set to return to this year’s Engineering Design Show (EDS) at the Ricoh Arena Coventry, marking the 4th time the company has been part of the event.
Innovation, interaction, inspiration and insight are the themes of this year’s expo, and Hitaltech is aiming to display all of the above when it showcases its Conex-it brand of PCB-mounted screwless terminal blocks and connectors.
“Improved vibration resistance makes the Conex-it range ideal for applications where vibration is constant,” explains Hitaltech MD, Andy Fitzer. “In addition, the simplicity of installation cuts assembly time.”
Yet Hitaltech’s innovation is not confined to product development. It is just as vital to process design and the company will also displaying numerous ways in which it is helping to cut the cost, complexity and time involved in assembly.
Full colour terminal block printing
Since Hitaltech last appeared at the EDS the company has introduced a range of added value services such as full colour printing, loom assembly and kitting.
“Legends and colour have been available for some time on terminal blocks and can be enormously helpful in improving wiring accuracy” explains Andy. “But the process required repeated layers of single colour pad printing or the use of sticky transfers, both of which were labour intensive and costly. Now, our full colour connector printing capability means we can make accurate assembly and wiring quicker, easier and much more cost effective.”
Connector kits
Another process innovation is the connector kit. Where once customers needed to order multiple parts, then sort them ready for the assembly line, now they can order predefined bags of components under one part number. Hitaltech tailors bespoke component kits for each client, with each bag containing a pre-defined set of terminal blocks and connectors, each coloured and printed to the customer’s requirements.
“The kitting option is already proving popular with customers who want to supply their finished products with a bag of pluggable connectors for the installer to use,” explains Andy, “and we are also finding that the kitting service can save a significant amount of time in sifting and sorting components on the assembly line too.”
And most recently, the company has added loom assembly to its services, giving customers more flexibility and capacity.
