Mazak summer charity campaign raises over £1,400 for Cancer Research

Yamazaki Mazak UK has raised £1,441 for Cancer Research UK, following a series of dedicated charity events that took place throughout August.

The machine tool manufacturer, which is located in Badgeworth Drive, Worcester, and employs over 900 people in the local area, held its biggest ever cake sale at its European Headquarters at the start of the month.

Over 600 cakes were sold over two days, all of which were donated by two of the company’s corporate catering partners, Brookes Catering and Elior. Posters to raise awareness of the charity campaign around Mazak’s Worcester sites, as well as dedicated charity t-shirts for those running the events, were donated by Mazak’s partners, HROC and PG Branding.

The company ran a wide-reaching raffle for both employees and their families, with prizes ranging from £100 Amazon vouchers and a mountain bike to an ‘Afternoon Tea for Two’ and an overnight stay at the Worcester Whitehouse Hotel.

However, the charity initiatives were not limited to Mazak’s Worcester site. On Saturday 11th August, Mazak’s Senior Marketing Executive, Milko Hadzhigenov, climbed Mount Snowdon, in just 4.5 hours, to support the fund raising efforts.

Richard Smith, European Group Managing Director at Yamazaki Mazak, commented: “The work Cancer Research UK undertakes in battling such a horrendous disease, and supporting both those living with the condition, and their families, is truly admirable. On behalf of Yamazaki Mazak UK I would like to wholeheartedly thank our partners for their generosity and donations, as well as every organisation that kindly provided prizes to our raffle.

“Special mention must go to those employees that took on the challenge of climbing Snowdon during an uncharacteristically hot summer, as well as to all those who dug deep to help us raise a fantastic amount of money – and eat an equally impressive amount of cake – for a very worthy cause.”
