Industrial IT and automation specialist Novotek UK and Ireland will be exhibiting at the Smart Factory Expo in Liverpool on November 14 and 15, 2018. The company will be demonstrating the new GE Digital Predix Manufacturing Execution System (MES) from stand A8 and showing attendees how the suite of software can help address their operational issues.
The Smart Factory Expo brings together over 120 digital technology companies to demonstrate the trends and technologies that will help develop the next wave of smart factories. The event sets out to show the UK’s strength in the high-end manufacturing industry.
Novotek UK and Ireland is inviting attendees to sample GE Digital’s Predix MES. The Predix MES suite of software allows plant managers, engineers and C-suite executives to gain insight into every aspect of their business operations in real-time, allowing them to reduce costs, improve quality and speed up production.
Predix MES consists of a suite of software systems, each of which is tailored to a different aspect of business operation. Plant Applications, the operations management part of the suite, offers an ideal tool for process plant managers and engineers to improve productivity by using the data from existing production automation to deliver a mix of tracking, performance analysis and quality enforcement tools that different personnel can use to be more effective in their work.
“Many people still think only of automated systems and robotics when they think of smart factories,” explains George Walker, managing director of Novotek UK and Ireland. “However, industrial IT systems such as the Predix MES are necessary to truly use these systems in an efficient and intelligent way.
“With an MES, plant managers can extract extensive insight into whether each system or piece of equipment is operating effectively. For industries where traceability of product is important, such as food and beverage production or pharmaceutical processing, managers can ensure they can provide comprehensive reports on product genealogy. And by putting machine data alongside the genealogy and the event data, improvement teams get fast insight into the root causes of variance.
“Crucially, this data must be accessible in an easy-to-understand format in as close to real-time as possible. This is what sets GE Digital’s Predix MES apart; it can collect, analyse and visualise status, performance and quality data rapidly, so different stakeholders can each manage their part of a fast-moving operation.”
In addition to the Plant Applications software, the Predix MES also incorporates Production Manager supply chain management software and Manufacturing Data Cloud. The suite collectively allows for full insight and control of different modes (discrete, process or hybrid) of operations, and delivers functionality in a business from the plant floor, to management, to analysts and to the C-suite.
Novotek UK and Ireland is the sole distributor for Predix MES from GE Digital, the leading provider of field service software, in the UK and Ireland. MES technology works alongside other operational technologies offered by Novotek to improve production line operations.
