Western Thermal Ltd Appoints John Potts, Ex Hertal, as New Director to the Board

British Thermal Engineering Company Western Thermal Limited is delighted to announce the appointment of John Potts as the newest member of the company’s board as Director. John with over 25 years of management and leadership role at Hertal, has joined the board at Western Thermal with effect from 15th October 2018.

Over the course of his career, Mr Potts has worked extensively across national and international markets, including in Europe, the Middle East, and Central, East & South Asia. His working knowledge covers Maintenance, Projects and Overhaul Contract-types within Piping/Mechanical, Thermal Insulation, Scaffolding/Access, Blasting & Coatings, Asbestos Management and Refractory disciplines. He also has extensive knowledge and experience in Business Acquisitions and Mergers, including strategy, planning, company consolidations and the implementation thereof.

John’s appointment comes about during what has been a very successful year for one of the UK’s leading thermal engineering companies, with Western Thermal having securing a number of high  profile contracts in the field of construction, pipe fabrication, Mechanical and other major areas of operations. This includes the Wardian Project in Canary Wharf, Heathrow Terminal 5, Arla Foods’ Aylesbury dairy, Wembley Stadium, Victoria Station, Battersea Power Station residential and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

In addition to his roles with the Hertel Group, John has also worked as a Project Director for Cape PLC in Qatar, and as a Managing Director for Silverdell plc in the UK.

Western Thermal is rapidly embarking on ventures beyond the UK market, and has already completed major projects in Denmark and Sweden. The company has achieved export revenue of 4.5% for 2018 and aggressively seeks to achieve a 10% YOY growth to target a turnover of £23 million over the next five years. With 10% of the company’s revenue currently from international sources, the company now seeks to take advantage of the petrochemical, gas and oil industries and increase this to 30%.

Western Thermal acquired Henderson Site Services to complement its existing range of services, which now expands to installation and modernization of all types of pipework systems. Henderson Site Services is also set to achieve a steady progression over the next five years and is targeting a turnover of £10 million.
