Well Connected for the Future – digital platform 4.0

Operative excellence in day-to-day B2B business activities and digitalisation always in mind: Striving for change and the pursuit of highest-level customer orientation has been the philosophy of the family-owned omnichannel vendor Conrad Electronic for the past 95 years. Now Conrad is taking the next step and invests in the cross-linking and expansion of its existing digital platforms.

Conrad presents itself at electronica 2018 in Munich with a digital enterprise platform as an innovative partner for B2B customers.

Hirschau/Munich, Germany, 15. November 2018In the future the existing platforms Conrad Business Supplies, Conrad Marketplace, SOS Electronic, Conrad Connect, as well as other innovative offerings in the segment Maker & Education will be unified to one ‘digital platform’, which Conrad will present for the first time at electronica (Hall C5, Booth 135) this year. As an omnichannel vendor, Conrad will also show innovative product and service trends addressing specific customer needs in the area of Maker & Education at their ‘electronica Experience’ stand in Hall C6, Booth 308.

Five building blocks, one goal

“We listened carefully to our B2B customers and have understood their demands for simple and secure procurement from a single source. As a result, we will combine our existing range of offers to one integrated, customer-centric platform, and which we will introduce at this year’s electronica. This will offer an even greater range of services in regard to procurement for all customers in the areas of R&D, MRO and Maker & Education,” company owner and CEO Werner Conrad explains this innovative approach.

In combining the different business models Conrad can offer its national and international business customers and professional partners a host of future-oriented solutions: “In line our strategy ‚B2B first‘, we will offer precisely to these target groups a variety of digital solutions, which are aligned to the actual demands of our customers and will be synergistically evolved. Our goal is to expand our offerings tightly connected with the rapidly changing customer requirements to one integrated system,” Werner Conrad continues.

From platform to product

The digital platform concept aims to interconnect at least two stakeholder groups, which could not have been combined without the digital conduit so that these can successfully and efficiently interact with each other. For Conrad’s customers this concept is an important enabler in four large areas:

The digital platform concept aims to interconnect at least two stakeholder groups, which could not have been combined without the digital conduit so that these can successfully and efficiently interact with each other. For Conrad’s customers this concept is an important enabler in four large areas:

  • The ‘Conrad Marketplace’, currently comprising 2 million items with 24-hour delivery service, yields B2B customers substantial time and cost savings through quality-assured one-stop-shopping, direct contact with partners, manufacturers and distributors, as well as direct and immediate access to innovative market introductions.
  • With 200,000 users and 340,000 devices from 70 brands, conradconnect.de today already is one of the leading IoT project platforms to interconnect products, apps, services as well as digital services independent of their manufacturers. Through our ‘Service Marketplace‘, recently introduced at IFA 2018 in Berlin, additional partner services are offered, based on the users’ device specs. With this service, ‘Conrad Connect’, being the first online platform, is closing the gap between smart products that users deploy in their day-to-day business and real-world services. This gives enterprise partners an approach to launch their own services on the marketplace or to utilise the aggregated and anonymised data to optimise their business processes and decisions, or specific products.
  • ‘SOS electronic’ is an ideal partner for project business, were components, power supplies, measurement equipment and automation are involved. This transnational distributor of electronic components for industrial manufacturing specialises in renowned global brands and design-in activities. With its online offerings, it handles large volumes for mass production as well as specific demands from various segments.
  • The digitally oriented target groups Maker & Education will find under the ‘Conrad Education Program’ at conrad.biz/education several offers, and services compiled under Conrad’s new MAKERFACTORY brand as well as many other activities at Maker Faires, Hackathons, MakerDays, Startup conferences and in-house courses of educational institutions, present a comprehensive offering for digital design, research and learning.Besides all the achievements in the areas of digitalisation and expansion of its ‘digital platform 4.0’, Conrad considers the customer with their individual needs to remain central to its activity. Across Europe, our B2B customers are personally tended to – in field services, in internal customer services and customer care. Together with its distribution partners, Conrad Business Supplies develops a cooperation for the successful marketing and sales of selected product groups. Conrad employees are advising customers individually and specifically, among other things also by utilising new digital services.

Even if digitalisation continues to evolve, the personal contact with our business customers is to remain the foundation for the economic success of both parties,” Werner Conrad concludes. Therefore, at electronica 2018, besides experiencing digital trends and technical novelties, one-to-one conversations remain central to the companies’ activities. Visitors to the Conrad Electronic booth will be able to learn everything about the ‘Conrad B2B Marketplace’, its continuously growing product range and more than a hundred partners. Additionally, the Conrad Team will explain how partners can join this successful ‘Marketplace’ and profit from its various digital services – for a well-connected future to share.
