NSK Bearings Europe, Peterlee plant has received recognition from Nissan Europe in the form of a prestigious quality award. The plant manufactures bearing products used in automobiles.
The Regional Supplier Quality Award was granted for consistently high quality third-generation wheel hub bearings (Hub III) supplied to Nissan’s Sunderland plant for use on its Juke and Leaf vehicles. The certificate accompanying the award reads: ‘This award is presented to you in appreciation of your excellent performance in quality. Thank you for your continuous efforts and outstanding contribution to Nissan.’
Hub unit bearings have to meet increasingly strict requirements that demand lighter weight, greater fuel efficiency and enhanced module production systems. NSK guarantees the high quality of its hub bearing products through repeated, rigorous bench testing, as well as other checks that take full advantage of the company’s cutting-edge technology.
Nissan Europe says the award has been bestowed on the plant in recognition of outstanding quality based on SSC (Supplier Score Card) performance.
The award was presented at Nissan Europe’s Supplier Quality Seminar held at Cranfield University on 31 October 2018, and was one of only six such awards presented to its entire European supplier base. Hub III Section Leader John Rafferty and Quality Assurance Manager Ian Jackson collected the award on behalf of the Peterlee plant.
