FPT Industrial engines are the power behind the new IV
ECO Daily, officially unveiled today for the European market. Thanks to FPT Industrial’s expertise and technology, the new Daily model is the first vehicle in its category to comply with the Euro 6-D Temp & Euro VI-D emission standards, according to the most recent international test procedures for light commercial vehicles.
The F1 Series powering IVECO Daily comes from more than 35 years of experience of FPT Industrial in commercial vehicles. In this sector, the Brand is currently the European market leader with some 300,000 units produced per year. Notably, IVECO Daily was awarded three times the title of “International
l Van of the Year”– in 2000, 2015 and 2018.
In the last three years, the new Daily project has been at the center of the Research and Development activities of IVECO. Supporting its sister brand in developing an innovative and efficient product, FPT Industrial is providing engines that deliver best-in-class performance with long service intervals.
FPT Industrial 2.3-liter F1A engine
IVECO Daily is equipped with engines of 2.3 litres or 3.0 litres, delivering power from 116 hp to 210 hp, also available in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). They are produced at FPT Industrial’s plant in Foggia, Italy.
With the Euro 6D Temp & Euro VI-D emission standards taking effect from September 2019, F1 Series adopts an external cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), as it is the best solution on Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) applications to minimize vehicle dimensions constraints. This allows the new Daily to comply with the regulation both on the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) and on Real Driving Emissions tests (RDE).
To further improve fuel consumption and performance, the F1 Series has a new Electronically controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger (e-VGT) offering faster boost control, smoother transient response and torque optimization even at low speed.
Together with advanced integrated driving systems, this allows the Daily to reduce fuel consumption by 10% in urban missions. This translates into lower emission levels and, in the Natural Gas version, represents additional 95% less CO2 comparing to Diesel when adopting biomethane, 97% less Particulate Matter (PM) and 37% less NOx in relation to the emission limits.
The e-VGT also helps in boosting the 3-litre engine’s Top Power up to 210 hp, now with Heavy-Duty homologation, suitable for specific applications like minibuses, firefighting and heavy vehicles.
FPT Industrial’s engines for IVECO Daily also contribute to achieve maintenance cost savings up to 10% in urban missions as a result of product improvements and longer oil change intervals. In addition to that, the new, bigger oil sump, available for F1A and specifically designed for long distance missions, extends service intervals from 50,000 to 60,000 km.
