XYZ Machine Tools makes strategic appointment for premium products

XYZ Machine Tools has appointed Martin Barber to the role of Premium Product Sales Manager where he will have responsibility for sales of the company’s five-axis machining centres and the Robo-Tend machine tending system. Martin brings to the role over 30-years’ experience working in production environments and machine tool sales. Having served his apprenticeship Martin moved into sales, selling linear bearing products to machine tool builders, he then spent some time living and working in Australia, again involved in sales of machine tool accessories prior to ‘coming home’ and taking on a machine tool sales role specialising in high-end, multi-axis, machining centres and multi-function machine tools.

“The opportunity to move to XYZ Machine Tools to focus on sales of its five-axis and automation systems attracted me due to the direction that I saw the business taking. Investing in high specification five-axis machining centres, along with the Robo-Tend machine tending system, would allow me to apply my knowledge to become a specialist in high-end machine sales,” says Martin Barber. “Having now seen the machines and automation up close I am more than reassured by what I’ve seen. The quality and specification of machines, such as the UMC-5X, are a match for anything that I’ve sold before, machines that were classed as the pinnacle in their field. As such, this new role has me excited at the prospect of developing sales of XYZ’s premium products.”

Martin will work in conjunction with XYZ Machine Tools’ existing team of Area Sales Managers to develop sales of the UMC-5X, UMC-4+1 five axis machining centres and the Robo-Tend fully integrated machine tending system. The two five-axis machines provide highly specified five-axis capability at a highly competitive price point, which has seen significant interest and sales since they were first introduced. Similarly, Robo-Tend which was unveiled only recently has received strong interest from a wide variety of customers looking for a cost-effective route to automating their machining processes. “Martin’s experience selling high-value multi-axis machine tools will be a terrific addition to our team. We recognise that to win over potential customers, who may not be traditional XYZ Machine Tool buyers, we need a dedicated resource in this area to spend the time needed to put over the significant benefits that we as a company can offer,” says Nigel Atherton, Managing Director, XYZ Machine Tools.
