Trotec Laser, the market leading supplier of laser machines and engraving materials, has redefined laser processing with the launch of the brand new laser software, Ruby. Characterised by a fast and intuitive workflow from idea to product, Ruby guarantees profitable laser processing with a connected, web-based platform. Regardless of the user’s laser experience, Ruby makes working with a laser faster, easier and more profitable through a web-based setup.
Redefining the laser process
Trotec’s core ethos since being founded over 20 years ago has always been to make customers more profitable through innovative laser systems. The next stage of this innovation is to provide a total solution platform which redefines the laser processing workflow. Dr. Andreas Penz, Managing Director of Trotec Laser GmbH said:
“Ruby is not just a laser software, Ruby is a platform that guarantees profitable processing of jobs. Thanks to a connected, web-based and digital-to-the-core setup. This technology will offer laser users unmatched added value and will be setting new standards”.
A software for the digital age
“Laser machines will be fully digitalised in the future. The Trotec team has been working intensively on a new software generation for 3 years. The new, scalable software architecture has been worked from the ground up, thus creating the basis for future developments,” says Penz, outlining the company’s mission and the importance of digitisation. For laser users in particular, the new web-based platform offers possibilities that have long been in demand but were previously unthinkable including complete independence from the operating system. “In this way we are setting the next new standard in our industry. Our customers will benefit from day one,” Penz is sure.
All in one production and graphics software. A seamless workflow.
Ruby removes the requirement and cost for additional graphics software by combining design and production capabilities into a single software with an integrated workflow. Ruby not only features all the graphic tools required to create a design, the software enables direct file imports of common files including PDF, PNG and SVG, while incorrect files are automatically cleaned and adjusted during the import.
“These functionalities halve the time from the idea to the finished product. Without incurring costs for additional software packages,” summarises Penz. Ruby accompanies the user from the idea to the finished product. The cloud-based material database guarantees the best laser results right from the start.
Multiple lasers, infinite users, one cloud-based software
Trotec Ruby connects all laser devices in a single network either locally or in the cloud, allowing jobs to be distributed to multiple machines from a PC or Mac. Jobs are loaded onto the laser machine’s integrated memory and processed without an additional PC. The innovative workflow means that jobs can be prepared by one user and produced by another at any time from any location. Ruby breaks new ground in user management with this integrated workflow and different roles and rights. Ruby’s application programming interface makes the complete automation of business processes possible.
