WAYLAND VIRTUAL LAUNCH ATTRACTS HUGE ON-LINE AUDIENCE – VIDEO NOW LIVE

Wayland Additive, the inventor of the Calibur3 metal additive manufacturing (AM) system, powered by the completely new and patented NeuBeam process, successfully launched its technology via a virtual event on 16th March 2021.

Hundreds of registered attendees attended the event, which was a mixture of live elements, and an in-depth film that looked in detail at the genesis of, the workings of, and the reasons for the Calibur3. A full video of the entire event is available to view HERE.

Will Richardson, CEO at Wayland said, “It was quite a humbling day when we finally hosted the commercial launch event for Calibur3, which had been delayed due to the issues associated with the global pandemic. We decided to host a virtual event in advance of our physical launch event on 19th May, as there has been so much pre-publicity about our activities, we really needed to accelerate an official reveal. I think as we were hosting the event it hit all the Wayland team just how much work had gone into the R&D that underpins our new metal AM technology, and seeing the large and consistent number of attendees made it clear to us just how much of a chord we have struck throughout industry as we introduce a next generation technology for metal AM production.”

Wayland’s NeuBeam process — encapsulated in the Calibur3 System — eliminates many of the compromises that users of metal AM processes have had to make both for part development and in full production. NeuBeam overcomes the inherent instabilities of traditional eBeam processes and the internal residual stresses typically associated with laser powder bed fusion (PBF) processes to offer a truly stable and flexible process. NeuBeam also exhibits unrivalled metallurgy capabilities and can process a much wider range of metal materials, including reflective metals.

Designed specifically for production applications, the Calibur3 incorporates fully embedded in-process monitoring capabilities that provide full oversight during every build and ensures full traceability for every part.

Peter Hansford, Business Development Director at Wayland commented, “I guess what is so exciting is that the Calibur3 is really a breakthrough technology that addresses stumbling blocks that have existed in the metal AM production arena for a number of years. Our mission — which has now been achieved with the commercial introduction of the Calibur3 and Neubeam — is to provide a solution that industry has been clamouring for that takes the science of metal AM to the next level, and we are already working with an array of OEMs on specific applications. Success for us is seeing these companies realise the potential that exists with the Calibur3, as they recognise the new innovations and opportunities that are now within reach.”

As the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic recede over the next couple of months, bolstered by the huge strides being taken with vaccinations, Wayland will be hosting a live physical event at its HQ in Huddersfield, UK, on May 19th 2021. This event is open to new attendees and to the audience that attended the virtual event who wish to get up front and personal with the Calibur3, and convene meetings to discuss specific applications with the Wayland team. Registration details for the physical event can be found on the Wayland website at https://www.waylandadditive.com/our-launch-events/.
