Mascot adds two NiMH models to its versatile Blueline battery charger family

New Blueline family complies with latest medical IEC60601-1 safety & EMC requirements, as well as CEC and US DoE energy efficiency standards

Norwegian power design expert Mascot has expanded its 3743 and 3546 range of versatile high-performance Blueline charger models to include NiMH versions. The two new models are configurable and use smart logic to optimise battery performance including robust -dV sensitivity detection; low cell temperature at the end of fast charge; and a top-off charge making sure all cells are fully charged and balanced. The maximum output is 15W for the 3743 charger and 27W for the 3546 model.

The safety protection features include error indication for reverse polarity, short circuit, charging battery packs with the wrong number of cells and safety timer run-out.

By means of a Configurable Battery Charger (CBC) toolkit with a PC interface, it is possible to configure the chargers through their output cable with a range of custom charge parameter settings, including dV, dT/dt, 0 dV, timer, safety timer, dV threshold and temperature gradient adjustment. The CBC is also configurable in field. Other custom specifications are available on request, including special connectors, cords, logo print, housing / open frame / IP rating and certificates.

The new NiMH chargers are well suited for a wide variety of applications from medical to industrial to consumer; users will enjoy optimised uptime and turnaround for battery-powered equipment. Both models are medically certified according to EN 60601-1 edition 3.1 and for home healthcare use according to EN 60601-1-11.  They are also UL-approved according to the US medical standard and meet the latest US DoE and CEC efficiency requirements.

Five standard versions (3-6, 4-8, 5-10, 6-12, and 10-20 cells) are currently available.
