~ Materials database adds new tool for simpler material sourcing ~
Materials platform Matmatch has just released a new tool that helps procurement professionals and engineers to streamline their material sourcing process. The tool offers the chance to find suppliers of specific metal grades by material name, the desired shape (or form) of the material, and location. Matmatch created this new tool to make it easier for their users to find different suppliers and also partly in light of the high-profile supply chain strains faced by the industry since 2020.
Matmatch’s website allows visitors to request a quote from material suppliers and see more information about the different materials and additional services each supplier offers. With an ever-increasing number of people looking for new suppliers to work with, this tool makes finding those suppliers much quicker.
Not only will customers be able to request a quote, but they will now be able to search with a map view of different suppliers. This allows them to find all the relevant suppliers in a specific area. This is another way of helping customers broaden their knowledge of different suppliers.
This new supplier-focused search tool complements the existing material search tool that Matmatch offers. Already, users can find materials based on technical properties that are relevant to their application. For example, when searching for steel, engineers can find grades with a specific tensile strength or hardness. Now, they can also source a supplier once they have found the perfect material.
“We want to help our users at every stage of the process: from researching and selecting materials to finally buying them,” said Derk Steemers, Head of Marketing & Growth at Matmatch. “With this new feature, procurement professionals can quickly get an overview of potential suppliers and request a quote for the material they need directly through Matmatch.”
“By adding this new feature, we manage to streamline the entire process for all parties involved: engineers can access all the material data easily, the procurement department gets an overview of suppliers that offer that exact material, and the suppliers receive highly-qualified leads that know exactly what they want.”
The enhanced search function is part of a series of changes Matmatch is rolling out across its platform to enrich the user experience for visitors and suppliers alike. The company previously updated its website with the addition of Matmatch Resources, which is a curation of blogs, research articles and case studies by some of the industry’s leading professionals. Matmatch also has plans to roll out additional updates to supplier listings in the coming months.
