World’s first 8-inch wafer GaN-on-Si manufacturer suspects malicious filing and will contest lawsuits with full force
Innoscience Technology, the company founded to create a global energy ecosystem based on high-performance, low-cost, gallium-nitride-on-silicon (GaN-on-Si) power solutions, vigorously responds to Efficient Power Conversion Corporation (EPC) announcement as it appears on their website titled “Efficient Power Conversion Sues Competitor Innoscience at ITC to Protect Patents in Emerging GaN Technology.” In response to the issues raised in this announcement, Innoscience provides the following insights:
1. The investigation and lawsuit initiated by EPC are inconsistent with the facts, and the motivations and objectives are doubtful. Innoscience’s will immediately take all legal measures to counterattack.
The statements in EPC’s legal lawsuit announcement are seriously at odds with the facts. We believe that this action by EPC constitutes illegal competition tactics aimed at undermining Innoscience’s competitive advantage. Innoscience reserves the right to pursue legal liability for the losses caused by this.
2. Innoscience’s intellectual property rights are clear, traceable, and free from infringement.
Innoscience places great importance on the construction of its intellectual property system and has established comprehensive systems for risk management and protection of intellectual property. Since its establishment, Innoscience has filed 753 relevant patents globally, with 129 patents granted. Regarding the four allegations of intellectual property infringement raised by EPC, Innoscience has promptly conducted a thorough analysis and confirmed that there is no infringement of EPC’s intellectual property rights.
3. In comparison to Innoscience, EPC has a significant disparity in terms of business scale, scope of operations, and technological strength. The allegations of technology plagiarism, based on the job changes of a few employees, are purely speculative and lack factual basis.
Contrary to claims by EPC, they did not serve as Chief Technology Offer and Head of Sales and Marketing.
Innoscience is an IDM (Integrated Device Manufacturer) semiconductor company with its core competence lying in the full vertical integration of the semiconductor industry, including chip manufacturing. Innoscience is globally recognized for its pioneering 8-inch gallium nitride (GaN) mass manufacturing process. On the other hand, EPC is a fabless design company whose product designs primarily rely on a 6-inch foundry process platform. EPC does not possess its own wafer fabrication facilities or corresponding manufacturing processes.
Innoscience’s GaN products cover a wide voltage range from low voltage (15V) to high voltage (700V). EPC’s product range is limited to only a few low-voltage devices, which represents only a small fraction of Innoscience’s product portfolio.
In terms of technology, products, and production capacity, Innoscience’s maintains a leading position worldwide. Innoscience’s has always pursued a cooperative and mutually beneficial approach to development. While we welcome fair competition, we will not tolerate baseless criticisms aimed at undermining Innoscience’s advantages.
4. The investigations and lawsuits initiated by EPC have no substantial impact on Innoscience, and Innoscience will take all necessary measures to protect its rights and interests.
Innoscience’s has proactively initiated a response plan to address the investigations and lawsuits maliciously filed by EPC at the U.S. International Trade Commission and U.S. federal courts. Innoscience is committed to defending its rights and interests using all necessary means. Innoscience will continue to respect the intellectual property rights of others in accordance with the law and actively protect its own intellectual property rights, while promoting fairness and justice in the industry.
