Leading independent extrusion company Exlabesa Extrusions has just announced it has invested in a 35 MN extrusion press for its Doncaster factory. Fernando Quinta, Director at Exlabesa Extrusions Doncaster said: “This investment will enable us to upgrade our plant and continue to deliver the outstanding quality our growing customer base relies on.”
Exlabesa Extrusions’ new 35 MN extrusion press, which is from SMS group, will replace its existing 20 MN extrusion press. The new press will be used primarily to extrude profiles for automotive, architectural and industrial applications from aluminium billets with a diameter up to 254 millimetres and a maximum length of 1,400 millimetres.
The new extrusion press will enable Exlabesa Extrusions Doncaster to improve energy efficiency at its plant because it uses start-stop technology that enables average energy savings of 10% compared to modern presses without similar technology. Fernando commented: “Energy efficiency is good for the business and good for the planet. We’re proud to have invested in machinery that will enable us to reduce consumption intelligently.”
As well as improving energy efficiency, the press will also improve quality thanks to a feature that will lower the risk of air inclusions in the extruded profile. Fernando commented: “We pride ourselves on the quality of our extrusion and the new plant will enable us to take our quality to the next level.”
