Thorite is not just the UK’s largest distributor of compressed air, pneumatic and fluid power products; the company is also one of the UK’s largest installers with two installation teams working practically flat out.
Prior to installation, it is the job of the Installation Sales Engineer to go into a factory and arrange the installation of the new compressor or other piece of capital equipment. On the very rare occasion that this is an empty building, the Installation Engineer has an easy job. Usually though, it is a working factory and the Installation Engineers job is anything but easy because he/she will need to find the most efficient way to install the new system, which may include additional pipework and a range of ancillary equipment, around a busy production area.
When the position of Installation Sales Engineer needed to filled recently, Thorite’s management team didn’t need to look very far. It has always been the policy at Thorite to promote from within the company and back in April 2018, Stewart Metcalf joined the Bradford Sales and Service Centre as a Capital Sales Engineer. At that point, Stewart had spent the previous eight years installing pneumatic systems, latterly in a supervisory capacity. Stewart was offered the job and, as expected, is making a success of it.
