Industrial Networks, IIoT and Communications – panel discussion Jan 12th.

PI UK is taking an active part in Talking Industry’s six-part series focusing on Industrial Networks, IIOT and Communications, with the first discussion on Tue Jan 12th, commencing 10:00 UK time.

Why the discussion?

Connectivity is a one-word summary for the Industry 4.0 revolution. From fieldbus to industrial Ethernet, from proprietary technologies to open standards, the evolution of network technologies has improved productivity and increased the interoperability of communication.

Industrial networking and IIoT are complementary. The importance of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial IoT (IIoT) have increased dramatically with massive numbers of interconnected devices, but at the cost of new cybersecurity challenges.

The Talking Industry panellists will focus on three broad areas:

  • Taking that first step in the Industry 4.0 revolution.
    • What the options and how do they vary for companies, small and large, and in different sectors?
  • Enabling technologies in industrial communications.
    • The importance of uniform standards. Are proprietary systems on the way out?
  • Moving data from the manufacturing plant through the enterprise
    • what are the technical issues and security implications?
