The new Phoenix Contact E-Mobility production facility in the Rzeszów-Dworzysko Science and Technology Park was officially inaugurated on October 7, 2021, in the presence of the mayor, Konrad Fijołek. “The extension of our production facilities at a new location in Poland is a decisive step in response to the developments of e-mobility,” underlines Michael Heinemann, the CEO of Phoenix Contact E-Mobility. The 15,000 m² e-mobility factory was built in just five months, meaning that we were able to begin producing AC charging cables in January 2021. The e-mobility specialist is a tenant. The production hall was built by Panattoni, the full-service developer for industrial real estate, in accordance with the specifications of the Phoenix Contact subsidiary.
The new location has already borne witness to the dynamics of the e-mobility market. The startup team has already developed into 300 personnel, much more quickly than planned. The production facility manufactures AC charging cables, infrastructure charging sockets for AC charging stations and home chargers, as well as vehicle charging inlets across eight production lines. There will be 10 production lines by the end of the year.
The number of new fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle registrations is increasing significantly every year. In the first half of 2021, the proportion of newly registered electric vehicles in Europe increased by more than double compared to the same period in the previous year. “Each of these vehicles comes with an AC charging cable in its trunk,” says Dominik Mazur, Factory Manager of the Rzeszów location. Bonuses and subsidies are ensuring the extension of the private and public charging infrastructures throughout Europe. These measures further increase the demand for AC charging cables. “Thanks to its great location within the Dworzysko Science and Technology Park and its well-developed infrastructure, our facility there is expected to become an important site within the Phoenix Contact E-Mobility production network.” The European and American markets are to be supplied from Poland. New technologies are being developed and tested at the Phoenix Contact E-Mobility headquarters in Schieder, Germany. This location includes highly-automated production systems, pre-series and sample builds, as well as the direct exchange between Development, Marketing, and Sales.
The new facility in Rzeszów has a total footprint of 15,000 m², which is divided into 14,000 m² of production and storage space and 1,000 m² of office space.
