~ Motors and drives specialist showcases ongoing commitment to marine and oil and gas industries ~
WEG Scandinavia, the supplier of electrical motors and drives, and part of WEG Group, will exhibit at NOR Shipping 2023 in Oslo, Norway, from 6-9 June. The exhibition will draw attendees from all over the world including ship owners and shipbuilders, plus representatives and regulators from the maritime and financial services industries. From stand E03-36, WEG will display its low-voltage motors and its range of variable speed drives for maritime and oil and gas applications, as well as its Motion Fleet Management (MFM) system for digitalised asset monitoring.
WEG’s participation in the event marks an effort to strengthen its presence in the marine and oil and gas industries. The exhibition offers an opportunity for WEG to highlight its latest motor and drive technologies that are relied upon by major companies, including Equinor in oil and gas and Royal IHC in the maritime industry, along with its commitment to safety, quality and sustainability.
Among the spotlighted products, WEG will showcase its digitalization portfolio, including its predictive maintenance platform, WEG Motion Fleet Management. MFM uses sensors to collect data on the performance of motors and other equipment, and it uses this data to identify potential problems before they cause downtime. This can save businesses money and improve their overall performance.
WEG has been using MFM at its own facilities for several years, and it has seen significant benefits, including a ten per cent increase in production output, and a five per cent reduction in energy consumption. WEG is now offering MFM to its customers to help them to improve their operations and achieve their business goals.
The company will exhibit its W22 range of three-phase induction motors. The W22 meets the IE3 and IE4 efficiency standards for electric motors, established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It is designed to offer not only significantly lower energy consumption but also lower noise and vibration, higher reliability, easier maintenance, and a lower cost of ownership.
“NOR Shipping 2023 is chance for WEG to showcase its innovations and supply of motors and drives to the marine industry,” said Tommi Jarviharju, development sales manager at WEG’s high voltage unit in Finland, part of WEG Scandinavia. “Every aspect of our product portfolio is owned and manufactured in-house.”
In addition, WEG’s range of drives will be on display including the high-performance CFW300 variable speed drive (VSD) that is ideal for precise control and easy operation applications. The smallest drive in the market, the CFW100 frequency inverter, will also be showcased. It guarantees energy savings and quick operational responses by preventing unexpected motor stoppages. WEG will also display gearboxes produced at its factory in Watt Drive, Austria.
WEG’s investments have paid-off, with its Scandinavian electrical motor branch showing an impressive 83.6 per cent growth in 2022. By displaying at NOR Shipping 2023, WEG is set to highlight its advanced solutions and ability to meet the changing demands of the marine industry.
