FANUC to focus on raising skills at Automation UK

FANUC UK will continue its campaign to increase awareness of robotics, automation and engineering among young people with a suite of education-themed demonstrations at this year’s Automation UK event (7-8 May 2025, CBS Arena, Coventry). Key to ensuring the UK remains competitive on the international stage is engaging with the next generation and inspiring them to pursue a career in manufacturing, as well as upskilling existing staff. As part of its drive to nurture this future talent pipeline, FANUC is spearheading a number of initiatives throughout 2025, including its partnership with WorldSkills UK for the Industrial Robotics competition; the accredited FANUC Academy training centre in Coventry; industry-specific training courses for the existing workforce in partnership with Sierra 57; and educational packages for schools, colleges, universities and training providers.

At Automation UK, FANUC will display two education cells designed to give students hands-on experience with programming and operating industrial robots.

Centre stage on the FANUC stand at Automation UK will be two of the company’s robot cells created especially for the education sector. Designed to give students hands-on experience with programming and operating industrial robots, these user-friendly cells offer a plug-and-play solution ideal for first-time users, complete with a touch screen interface for intuitive operation. Both cells will be carrying out live pick-and-place tasks on the stand, with one option incorporating the FANUC ER-4iA 6-axis robot, and the other featuring a collaborative CRX-10iA model.

In addition to the two educational packages, the FANUC stand will also showcase the ever-popular footballing robot ‘kicker’ cell, and an industrial robot vision cell picking a variety of fruits. Highlighting the versatility, flexibility and reliability for which FANUC is renowned, these solutions will demonstrate to visitors the benefits of automation across sectors including food & beverage, automotive, aerospace, FMCG, pharmaceutical and general manufacturing.

“Automation UK is a key event in the manufacturing calendar for us here at FANUC UK,” says Head of Sales Oliver Selby. “Bringing together robot manufacturers, system integrators, end-users and academia, it’s the ideal platform for us to showcase our latest solutions both for industry and the education sector. We look forward to welcoming to visitors to stand B70 to find out more.”
