LONDON, September 13, 2017 – Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) has named veteran space industry executive Patrick Wood to lead its international business development efforts in satellites, space exploration and advanced space concepts and technologies.
With immediate effect, Patrick Wood will serve as the director of international business development for Space Systems Company, leading a global team that works with defence, civil and commercial space customers. He will be based in London and report to Kay Sears, vice president of strategy and business development for Lockheed Martin Space Systems.
“More than 50 nations have active space programmes, with many more recognising the value that space can bring to their national security, economic growth and scientific advancement goals,” said Kay Sears. “Patrick will apply his considerable expertise in space technology, customer needs and innovative business strategy to help our customers achieve their aspirations in space.”

An engineer by training with more than 30 years of experience, Patrick Wood was previously Chief Executive Officer of Surrey Satellite Technology, Ltd., and also held leadership positions with Airbus Defence and Space. He has held key roles in the space industry spanning executive leadership, programme management, engineering, technology, quality, operations and manufacturing. His diverse experience includes defence, commercial and scientific missions from low Earth orbit to geostationary.
