A Devon company, based in Torbay has been honoured with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade

Announced today (Thursday 21 April), Investment Casting Systems Limited has been recognised with a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for its excellence in International Trade and is one of only 225 organisations nationally to be recognised.

The business is engineering based and was started in a single garage by the now Group Chairman Ted Head.

Supported by his son James Head who is now group MD business growth progressed from tool making and machining into plastic mouldings for the Aerospace and Commercial sectors.

Developing its customer  the business has had a sustained increase in revenue resulting in the requirement for additional capital equipment and workforce. This has necessitated the doubling of factory space to allow the companies to continue to grow both the national and international markets into the future.

It works closely with customers, suppliers and stakeholders to offer a full design and manufacturing service of bespoke toolmaking, injection-moulding for aerospace, aerospace composites in the defence and commercial sectors. It is AS9100 accredited which is an internationally recognised aerospace quality standard.

Investment Casting Systems is one of three standalone businesses under the CSS Group supplying customers internationally, the others being Casting Support Systems Ltd and Technical Composite Systems Ltd.

Now in its 56th year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious business awards in the country, with winning businesses able to use the esteemed Queen’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
