Advantech RSB-3720 achieves Arm SystemReady IR certification using i.MX 8M Plus Processor

Advantech, a global leader in the embedded IoT ecosystems, is glad to announce that our 2.5’’ SBC the RSB-3720, and our edge AI box computer EPC-R3720 which includes the NXP AI-native i.MX 8M Plus Processor, are one of the first devices to achieve Arm® SystemReady IR platform certification. ROM-5722 our latest SMARC to follow soon. Through the adoption of SystemReady IR standards and tools, customers in the Arm ecosystem enjoy interoperability with embedded Linux and other commercial and community operating systems.

Project Cassini is an open, collaborative, standards-based initiative designed to deliver a cloud-native software experience across a secure Arm edge ecosystem. As part of Project Cassini, Arm SystemReady is a compliance certification program based on a set of hardware and firmware standards. It includes SystemReady IR, a band of system certification for devices in the IoT and embedded edge sector built around SoCs based on the Arm Cortex® an architecture ensuring interoperability with embedded Linux and other embedded operating systems. NXP, as the leading semiconductor vendor ushering the edge computing revolution, has certified their i.MX 8M Plus processor-based evaluation kit as SystemReady IR to give developers additional choice when seeking an OS to run out of the box on any compliant platform.

“Project Cassini is designed to unleash edge compute innovation by accelerating the deployment of scalable and efficient Arm-based platforms,” said Mohamed Awad, vice president, IoT and embedded business at Arm. “Together with partners like Advantech and NXP we are enabling an industry-wide approach to standardization and security, allowing a cloud native edge ecosystem to thrive by delivering confidence that software will ‘just work’ across a diverse range of certified Arm-powered devices.”

Advantech is pleased to work closely with Arm and its ecosystem on Project Cassini and SystemReady to define hardware and firmware specifications for edge devices. Through this standardization, Advantech can help customers reduce the development time and cost for new market opportunities and leverage these software services as industry adoption of Project Cassini grows.
