The MTA and the MTC partner to present a seminar on ‘Bridging the Skills Gap’

The MTA and Manufacturing Technologies Centre (MTC) have teamed up to bring companies a valuable opportunity to help their business address their skills needs. A range of great speakers are lined up to share insights and practical way in which to make a difference.

 

The manufacturing technologies sector, like the engineering industry as a whole, recognises that there is a skills gap which requires a new generation to fill it. It is vital that the industry acts to bring in the talent that it needs. This seminar will be looking at ways in which to address this issue, as well as the types of training available for those new to the industry and existing employees.

 

This free half day seminar will take place on 12th May 2015 and start at 9:30am, the event will include a number of speakers, lunch and a tour of the facilities at the MTC.

  • Paul Schofield- Head of Corporate Affairs, BAE Systems- Talent Retention Solution
  • Suzanne Wells- Operations Manager, National Physical Laboratory
  • Tim Thorburn- Craftsman Tools (Manufacturing Industry awards Training Scheme of the year)

 

Speakers at the event will be covering a range of topics from how businesses can access high quality engineers through TRS, to how smaller businesses can tackle taking on apprentices. Presentations will focus on making a real difference to businesses who attend, whether through bringing in new recruits or developing their existing staffs’ talents.

 

MTA, CEO James Selka said “It is widely recognised that there is a skills gap within the manufacturing industry. It is our duty along with our partners at the MTC to ensure this gap shortens and give companies the necessary skills to implement change.”

 

He continued “This event is the ideal opportunity to engage with industry and set the wheels in motion to bridge this gap and introduce a new generation of engineers into the manufacturing sector.”
