The Health & Safety Event taking place at the NEC, Birmingham, from the 10 – 12 April 2018, marks the launch of a ground-breaking new charity dedicated exclusively to the work at height sector. The No Falls Foundation – sponsored by PASMA and supported by all eleven member organisations of the Access Industry Forum (AIF) – will be officially launched in the BSIF Theatre at 14.00 on Wednesday, 11 April.

It will also be the featured charity at The Safety & Health Excellence Awards at The Vox Conference Centre in Birmingham on the evening of the same day. The awards will be presented by the well-known comedian and impressionist Rory Bremner and will see more than 400 safety, health, security and fire professionals unite to celebrate excellence in their respective fields.

The new charity has three distinct objectives: to advance health and the saving of lives through understanding and reducing the likelihood, impact and risk of falls from height and injuries sustained from objects falling from height; to research the causes of falls and falling objects; and to support people facing the consequences of falls.

According to figures published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), during the five-year period 2012/13 – 2016/17, falls from height accounted for an average of 40 fatal injuries per year (28% of the total).

Commenting on the launch, PASMA’s managing director, Peter Bennett, said: “The No Falls Foundation is delighted to have both the exhibition and awards as a prominent platform from which to introduce this landmark initiative.”

“We are looking forward to coming together with the health and safety industry to share details of this major new charity which aims to have a positive impact on everyone involved in work at height.”

Tim Else, director at Western Business Exhibitions, organisers of The Health & Safety Event and Awards, added: “We are extremely pleased to be hosting the charity, and with more than 400 professionals coming together for the awards evening we believe the event provides the perfect launch pad for this milestone development in the work at height sector.”

“We are also very happy to be featuring the Access Industry Forum (AIF) and its eleven member organisations at this year’s show which will give visitors access to an unrivalled range of height safety expertise under one roof”.

The following leading associations and federations will be exhibiting: ATLAS; BSIF; EPF; FASET; IPAF; IRATA; Ladder Association; NASC; PASMA; SAEMA; WAHSA. They will be sharing the latest news and information, trends and developments in height safety. Visit www.accessindustryforum.org.uk
