Technifast Offer Bespoke Marine Grade Stainless Steel Components Service

Technifast Limited has broadened its marine components service, producing a range of precision engineered fasteners in Grade 316 Stainless Steel (A4) to combat the unforgiving environment both above and below the waterline.

Choosing the correct fastener for a particular application probably won’t get you noticed.  However, choosing the incorrect fastener could get you noticed for all the wrong reasons.   We work closely with large companies in the marine industry to manufacture fasteners in Stainless Steel 316 (A4) to ensure the right fastener material is used for the application in which it is intended.  This Marine Grade Stainless Steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel containing molybdenum and has specific properties which increase corrosion resistance, making it the ideal choice for the marine applications.

Technifast’s manufacturing team has invested heavily in its machining capacity and has the capability to offer a wide range of bespoke marine grade stainless steel dowels, clevis pins and has also added a range of self-tapping inserts to their portfolio. Designed specifically for the marine industry the insert range has been successfully used in RIB boats, super yacht tenders and sailing masts. These type of inserts can be specifically created to a customer drawing and specification to ensure the perfect fastening solution for a particular application.

Recent bespoke projects have included the production of prop shafts, boat stanchions, sea-water pump spindles, canopy fasteners and outdrive components. The Technifast team have also produced coach bolts as part of a restoration project aboard Nelson’s Flagship, HMS Victory, and have also manufactured bespoke stainless steel inserts for racing yachts competing in The America’s Cup.

This specialist service complements Technifast’s already proven product portfolio of standard stainless steel fasteners.  Senior Engineer, John Garner commented: “Our fasteners are frequently used in harsh marine environments and often a standard fastening solution and material is not appropriate for the application.  Our marine components service provides our customers the opportunity to have bespoke marine grade precision fasteners made to their specification, with the high-quality finish we pride ourselves on.”
